I read an article that says that Muslim discrimination was on the rise for job hunters. It reminded me of a time I worked with a fantastic guy who was an engineer. He was born in the States and had graduated from a great university. His name was Mohammed – and he might have been Muslim. He was doing everything right but he was just not getting interviews from applying online and sending out his resume. The discrimination he faced led us to discuss what he could do to get around it. My best advice was to network. Find people who like and trust you because of who you and not what your name sounds like and your religion might be. A friend in England changed his name to avoid this issue. It sad when people have to take that step to fit in.
Here is a great article on this issue.
